CONSERVATION

Some of the worlds great conservationalists have come from a background in sports shooting. As an organisation we are ardent conservationalists.

It has been long and widely recognised that the wonderful, diverse, and rich tapestry of the English countryside that we enjoy today is in great measure due to the part played by country sports (particularly shooting sports) over the last two centuries at least. The delightful patterns of hedgerow, woodland, pond and watercourse, dingle and dell have been preserved and enhanced by shooting interests and shoot management, and this continues today.

We continue and seek to further this tradition by arguing for the preservation of hedgerows, coppices, areas of scrubland, wetlands, etc as safe havens for game bird and all wildlife, both flora and fauna. We actively participate in hedging, fencing, planting, drainage works, irrigation and other similar works where a need arises or is perceived.
